Meet Sara Dakarmen of Los Angeles (LA) Dismantler in Sun Valley

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sara Dakarmen.

Sara, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
Los Angeles Dismantler (LA Dismantler) has prospered from humble beginnings. My love for Porsche flourished when my father purchased his first when I was ten years old, a tribute to our Stuttgart heritage. My teens were spent cherishing those timeless Porsche moments with my dad and his. When I met Todd, the only way to get any face time with him was in his cold garage while he was tinkering with his projects in my early twenties. My love for both Porsche and Todd thrived as I continued my higher education. My late husband Todd and I turned our passion for Porsche into our livelihood by my mid-twenties. While attending Pepperdine University for my business degree, I studied the automotive salvage industry. Todd had been in the industry for decades and this seemed like the natural direction for me. In early 1998, we took a leap of faith. Todd left his family salvage business and started our Porsche specific endeavor.

Alongside Todd, I dedicated all of my time our business. My contribution to the business diminished over time as I found myself raising four amazing daughters (who help me tremendously. the last few years while raising my four beautiful daughters, who now help me tremendously. With Todd handling the day to day operations and me remaining connected through payroll and sales, I was able to have a full-time volunteer career with PTA/Girl Scouts and other activities with my girls. Unfortunately, Todd passed-away two years ago and I have taken the helm of the business. Today I spend my time traveling to Porsche events around the world and meeting prominent Porsche people in order to spread our love of the marque. My company is the international, late model dismantler, leader in the world of Porsche.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
The death of a twenty-four year best friend and partner, raising four girls while operating a business is a balance I have come to appreciate. My four daughters contribute willingly to my operation. It has been a life-changing experience while riding this roller coaster adventure. You can have it all if you be patient with yourself and love what you do and where you are.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Los Angeles (LA) Dismantler – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of and what sets you apart from others.
We are the world’s largest late model Porsche dismantling yard. We specialize in 70’s to current 911 Boxster Cayman parts. We are known for having the widest selection of good quality used parts at great prices. We are most proud of our committee to our clients and community. What sets us apart is that we are now a female-owned business in a male-dominated market who connects with the global community.

So, what’s next? Any big plans?
I intend to continue running this business like my husband and dreamt of since day one. My plan for the company is to take it to the next level and provide parts for the millions. Porsche enthusiasts across the world, continuing our goal to keep Porsches on the road. We are expanding the business publically and globally. We continue to spread our wings and connect with media outlets to publicize our story. Our podcast on Cars Yeah just released, TV show to follow, a Reality TV show is in the works, YouTube channel expansion, blog/vlog. Continuing to connect with the Community through social media and events. I have a green eco plan to reuse unsellable parts making them into Porsche decor.
